LoginAndroid App – Sneak peak of new look
At ProOnGo we’re constantly trying to keep up compatibility with 100s of phone models – over the years, we’ve seen Android and BlackBerry give life to dozens to hundreds of new models each year – and that means our developers have to be obsessive about making sure that what they build works well on the vast majority of phones out there (iOS is a little easier because Apple’s release cycle for new models is much more controlled).
So, once in awhile you’ll see us choose a UI element that seems a little conservative, because sometimes the newfangled UI tricks would cause us to break compatibility with certain important models of phones (and that’s something we wouldn’t want to do to you!). One such part of our UI was our toolbar on Android – it looked a little like this:
Old Toolbar on Android
There is a super fancy toolbar that we could use on Android, but it would have broken compatibility with our tried-and-true, reliable, broadly-compatible toolbar. So we held out for something that would get us a new/fresh look without breaking compatibility.
Looking at our developers’ desks today (yes, I’m a snoop), I spotted a fresh new look, that’s also backwards compatible to work with even the older Android models:

Cheers to our development team that keeps “finding a way” to maintain broad compatibility while still shining up the app to look fresh and new.
This new look will arrive on Google Play (Android Market) later this week!
